When, again, most areas of the US don't have an abortion provider at all, it's a major hit for women's access to have doctors allowed to enter a profession whose obligations they are not willing to meet. Women who are only within range of one doctor (or women who are refused without being given an immediate referral) can't afford to wait for the invisible hand of capitalism to show doctors who won't do their jobs the error of their ways.
