As a fellow Christian I have to say this is the kind of hypersensitive response from American Christians that makes us all look bad.

Look at what the average "Muslim" or "atheist" -- or, for that matter, "socialist" or "feminist" or "libertarian" -- has to contend with in terms of the adjective that means their religion being sweepingly used for bad things by journalists or pundits. You have no right to complain.
