Feb. 21st, 2006 09:42 pmToday it is the world's job to reassure me that people do in fact follow through on their commitments.
I would like for this to be the case. Somehow it always seems easier to make a commitment beforehand, doesn't it? Then when it comes time to actually do it, the task in question is no longer quite so attractive.
Have to wonder. What's the difference between a commitment we're willing to fulfill and one that we probably never intended to give a second thought? What makes a promise worth anyone's time anymore?
We'll see if everyone I talk to today is going to be a backsliding liar. I hope not, but hope is a funny thing that comes on command and then just sits in your mind... like pearls on a whore.
