I guess I can see these not being dealbreakers for people who don't really care about them. I mean, if you don't really care about anybody but yourself, I guess it's enough for your partner to be nice to you, regardless of what they want for the rest of the world. Personally, I ask a little more than that. I personally have a goal of seeing all people treated as though they have the same rights (women, LGBT, people of color, etc.) and if my partner doesn't see the value in my life goals... can we really have all that much in common?

Furthermore, I find it hard to imagine that somebody who doesn't respect women, LGBT, or people of color as someone who's great to be in a relationship with. I don't fall into the latter category, but with the first two... if they don't respect those people, they don't respect me. That'd be a relationship going nowhere in a hurry, and I'm not interested in repeating my mother's mistakes.
