I tried watching his speech last night. It was the only thing on the local channels anyway. But from the very beginning he started with the "doublespeak" and it was so bad I fell asleep.
Indiana is fairing better than other states right now, but if he thinks our state will bypass the storm, he really doesn't understand global economics where everything is connected. The new car plants he brought to the state are already having layoff holds and it isn't going to be the last time, as unemployment rises and people are unable to buy new cars and trucks.
I think his speech was really geared toward his fellow Republican political colleagues. The message was "Don't jump the ship, though the water is rising... at least its not rising as fast as other ships that are sinking". At least that's my take on it, from my half-dazed hearing of it.
