I hurt. For people who see this and know that it's one more confirmation that your lives mean so little to the people who ought to protect and love you, I'm sorry. I hurt, but I cannot even imagine. I'm so sorry.

I encourage people to sign the ‪NAACP's petition to open a civil rights case against Zimmerman.

I do not understand how someone can confess to killing skmeone else without provocation and manage to be acquitted of any charges. It does not compute.

I'm...gah. It requires profanity.

Sooo... We ask Department of Justice to violate Zimmerman's Fifth Amendment Rights?

Criminal =/= civil. It wouldn't be for murder/manslaughter.

You're right, but that's not what that petition is after at the end of the day. Plus, the NAACP (or those in charge of said organization) have flat-out said they want federal charges brought against Zimmerman.

Which SHOULD not happen, since he's already been tried once.

Double jeopardy means you can't be tried for the same thing in the same court. That's why appeals are a thing; you are talking about the same alleged offense, but in a different court.

The (heavily flawed, extremely prejudiced, racist) court decided to remove any sense of a civil rights hate crime case from the criminal charges.

They already had a hate crime case building before the criminal case went.

Because race was removed from the criminal case, there is still plenty of room for hate crime charges.

Which he wasn't charged on because the judge wouldn't allow race to be brought into it.

Still valid, and that's not even getting into serious legal gymnastics.
