Yes, that's there, and I think that the things they really want to be really really actually true are that the universe works on a mechanism other than chaos and that they are cosmically significant beings. Otherwise, they are a single being with a limited life span in a great and giant cosmos, flickering into being for a tiny part of the universal lifespan, and then snuffing out, soon to be forgotten by the rest of the world and the cosmos. Religion helps comfort them in that cruel reality with the idea that either there is a reward for them after mortal existence, or that they continue cycling on into new existences, so that they will not be forgotten. It helps them feel that they are significant and will continue to be so after they die.
